Government approves Telenor bid for second landline operator license
21.01.2010.
Serbian Minister for Telecommunications and Information Society Jasna Matic said that the Serbian government approved today
Telenor’s €1.5 million bid for obtaining Serbia’s second landline telephone operator license.
In a statement to Beta news agency, Matic said that it is expected that Telenor will be issued the license by the middle of February if the Republic Telecommunication Agency (Ratel) confirms the government’s decision at its session tomorrow.
The Minister said that in that case Telenor could start offering landline phone and internet services in Serbia by the end of the year, adding that this will make it possible for the people to avail of a combined internet, internet protocol television and cell and landline phone services offer package, which will reduce their telecommunications expenses.
