Sector for European Integration

• Strengthening cooperation with the European Union
• Harmonising regulations in the sphere of e-communications and information society with the European Union's regulative framework
• Creating a Strategy for switching from analogue to digital radio and television programming in Serbia
• Providing support to research centres and ICT companies for entering the Seventh Framework Programme for Research and Technological Development - FP7 for the ICT domain
• Working on accession to the World Trade Organisation
• Working on strengthening cooperation with international organisations and institutions responsible for the global development of telecommunications and information society (ITU, CEPT, IMSO, ITSO, EUTELSAT)

Responsibilities of the Sector for European Integration

The Sector for European Integration performs duties related to:

  • preparing proposals for establishing and pursuing Government policy in the sphere of telecommunications, the development of information society and postal transport at international level;
  • preparing a draft basis for participation in international conferences, seminars, workshops and meetings;
  • cooperation and participation in the work of international global and regional organisations in the sphere of telecommunications, the development of information society, especially in inter-governmental organisations where our country is a member-state;
  • initiating measures for enhancing and encouraging research and development of telecommunications, information and communication technologies (ICT) and postal transport;
  • cooperation with cross-sector committees with the aim of initiating joint measures in the sphere of telecommunications and the development of information society;
  • drafting plans, programmes and work reports;
  • developing professional bases for draft laws and other draft regulations;
  • monitoring the development of European regulations with the aim of harmonising them with our legislation;
  • giving opinion on regulations and documents prepared by other agencies and organisations,
  • compliance with international standards and recommendations in the sphere of telecommunications and ICT, as well as other duties in the Sector's purview.
